So distressing on many levels. My grammar school discovery of porn in a 70s magazine at my local park was pretty damaging but due to what was happening in my life. Like you, I don't blame the porn. I discussed with my Gen Z kids that porn was entertainment not education and that real sex rarely looked like that--nor would they likely want it to. And then, the big surprise for me. I realized that porn wasn't just problematic for my daughter's self esteem but for my son's, as well. The message to men is you are your penis and it should be big, you should want to fuck any chance you get, you should desire certain kinds of women. And now, the really interesting thing to me is that my kids are still virgins in college. I had sex as soon as I could (14) and never really stopped. Therapists tell me this is actually a thing these days, younger generations are having less sex. Good or bad, I don't know, but I do know porn launched me, but maybe because porn was so rare and sex seemed so rarified back then.
