My youth was so much opposite! You make me realize I’ve taken for granted the experience and expectation that my time and space is never questioned and I can take it when I want. My family would leave me alone in my room—door locked—while I drew all weekend all the years I was growing up. Alone time comes through physical isolation but also headphones or driving my wrangler. Or writing. Writing is so lonely for me, isn’t that odd?
