I've been writing for 30+ years and had some small success with traditional publishing. It didn't feed me like I thought it would, and it didn't really give me the confidence I have now. The years, many stories, and interactions with writers and readers did that.
I learned early that what I like to write is not highly marketable, so I had to decide what is most important to me.
Erotic fiction/erotica is the most difficult genre to write, and I will die on this hill. If you're putting yourself out there in this market, you are brave in a way many bestselling authors are not.
My problem with writing is a lot of irons in the fire and only 24 hours in a day. I moved all my writing to Medium, shut down my websites, and abandoned any thought of Amazon, so I can give maximum time to creating vs administration.
All the genres I write include LGBTQ erotic fiction and already this week I've put in time on: a series of fantasy shorts with art for each episode (at Tantalizing Tales), a dark fantasy sequel for Halloween, a transgressive sci-fi short, posting chapters of a M/M historical fiction novel, an epic fantasy webseries. And I'm still trying to squeeze minutes from everywhere in my life, which means painting on my iPad while at my job (π don't tell)
