Dostoevsky was a psychological novelist who expressed existentialist themes and posed moral questions, so I'm, you know, surprised he hasn't been embraced more in erotic literature. He was due.

I'm sure most readers won't see all the background going on in this novel, but when a reader can appreciate a piece of it, I'm gratified.

There's also Eddie's perverse structure ร  la Lacan, Eleanor's fetishistic understanding ร  la Kaplan. And the projective identification ร  la Klein running roughshod over Eleanor.

This chapter is, to me, the climax--a perfect weaving of the book's themes, but there's still lots of sex and violence to come. ๐Ÿ˜‰
