I write fiction in many genres, but that doesn’t mean everything in the fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and erotica I write is imagined. Though I’m more about entertaining than teaching, I want to add authenticity from my experience to my worlds and characters.
That’s not always the focus of other writers.
No problem if you want to write tentacle sex or whatever. However, I get judgy with some representations, such as fiction that creates a kink relationship and gets the ethics wrong, makes some activity seem safe that isn’t, or casts a legal and ethical relationship as a moral failing.
You likely know some mainstream fiction that dips its toes into kink. But maybe you don’t know how real it is.
BDSM is an acronym for bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism.
